More About College Football

 I like the idea of a Union of College Athletes. Yes, they could negotiate about the money they will receive for representing the college. How about the students that do research at the university? I think they should make an union to  protect their research. How about the regular student that does not receives a scholarship to play at the school? Should they receive payment for the use of the college installations by professional athletes?

 

If the school is going to pay the college athletes to play, then they should also help the regular students with their students loans. If I am not mistaken, students paid for the facilities at least at the beginning, before the television contracts and the games. the students and their families watch the games and root for their colors and buy products promoted by the school.

May be I am stupid but nobody talks about education. May be the money made by the school should be used for research, lower down tuition, provide scholarship for students that are not gifted with a athleticism.

 

I wonder how many of those athletes that complain about being taken advantage by the school, could have attended that school ? How many of those athletes could have been drafted by professional football teams if not by the exposure received by the school team? I believe the should be protected, that they should be compensated but they have to be students and not only athletes. They should justify their permanence at the school and not only because they know how to play football. I understand that today, it is more important to be a Baseball player, Football player or any other Athlete than to be a scientist, an accountant, architect or md.

 

May be the colleges should not be in the business of sports and more into the education business. May be the colleges should maintain the sport business and change their purpose and become a sport franchise and probably work with Football league  to become something like the minor leagues in baseball.
